Personal
Information
My
wife and I have lived at the Old Flouch since 1976 and in
that time have worked hard to improve both the house and
the surrounding environment. I campaigned throughout the
1980s against stubborn resistance from the Highways Agency
to persuade them to improve the notorious Flouch Crossroads.
Eventually succeeding by appealing over their heads to the
Minister for Roads & Traffic, with the assistance of
Allen Mackay our Member of Parliament at the time, this
resulted in the Flouch Improvement Scheme.
In
the early 1990s I was a member of the Millhouse Working
Party which successfully opposed the proliferation of wind
turbines in our area. More recently I served as Clerk to
Langsett Parish Council from 2002 to 2007 negotiating the
lease & funding for a car park and viewing/picnic area
on Gilbert Hill.
I
am also an active member of the action group Woodhead Against
Increased Traffic which last year convinced the Highways
Agency that they had made major errors in their proposals
for the Mottram Bypass.
I
am currently a member of Penistone Town Council, representing
Cubley & Springvale.
