Personal Information

I have lived in the Penistone area since 1986 and have always been actively involved in the local community, in particular with Penistone Round Table helping organise many community events such as Penistone Mayors Parade and Gala, Bonfire Night, and the Santa Sleigh. I am married to Gill, and have two sons, James 14, and Matthew 10.

Since May 2006 I have been elected to serve as a BMBC Councillor for Penistone West, serving on the General Licensing Regulatory Board and the Health and Adult Services scrutiny.

Since May 2007 I have been elected to serve as a Penistone Town Councillor for Penistone Town. I am Vice Chair of the Development and Regeneration committee which will seek to develop Penistone and promote business regeneration and positive change for the community. I am also keen to ensure that we produce a parish plan to ensure appropriate and sustainable development.

I am actively involved in establishing Penistone Community Radio, which is currently fund-raising to raise sufficient funds to get on air. I hope that Penistone Community Radio will be on air by June 2009. I am also on the board of Penistone District Community Partnership which supports many initiatives to promote tourism in the borough.
